Women in Black weekly vigil at UC Berkeley.
Women in Black weekly vigil at UC Berkeley.
This week Women in Black has drown attention to a decision made by the International Court of Justice, declaring settlements in the occupied territories to be illegal and obstacle to peace. The court also ruled that the Apartheid Wall is illegal and the building of it should stop. Women in Black also distributed an article about the torture of a ten years old Palestinian kid, by Israeli soldiers.

Women in Black started in Israel in January 8, 1988, when 7 Israeli women stood in silence to protest the occupation of Gaza and the West-Bank. The Bay-Area Women in Black was established in November 1988, inspired by the protest of the Israeli women.
In the past year the bay-area chapter of Women in Black has been subjected to harassments and intimidations by Zionists groups who are trying to silence their criticism of the Israeli Apartheid State. Women in Black have been resisting these attacks heroically, and have kept their commitment to global human rights through their weekly vigils.
People are encourage to come and join Women in Black on Fridays at U.C. Berkeley 12-1, Saturday in front of the Grand Lake Theater, and on the first Friday of every month from 5 to 6 PM at Montgomery and Market (this protest is women only.)
