MoveOn is organizing "Rallies for an Oil-Free President" July 9 nationwide.

For the last 8 years we've had an oil-funded President who has discouraged alternate energy investment. Gas prices have risen to all-time highs, little is being done to curb global warming, and the oil industry is making record profits. John McCain has taken contributions over $1 MM from oil and gas companies. He has 20 former oil lobbyists running his campaign -- and now he's returning the favor by pushing for coastal oil drilling that won't deliver a drop of oil for 10 years, while further damaging our coastline and environment. We'll rally to tell the local and national media: the American people need an Oil-Free President - Barack Obama - NOT John McCain.
