Slavery is well and alive today in America and with De-population in Racist San Francisco
We have millions incarcerated in our jails but thousand others working as indentured slaves here in American in the year, 2008. So, it is a paradox to see so many enjoy some drab fire-works and eat pig ribs and rejoice that all is well is their piggy, dog eat dog - world. When one goes to places like San Quentin and sees the sad state of affairs - jail mates piled one on top of another - July 4, is all the more pertinent and a sad reflection. There is freedom and there is license and abuse of freedom is LICENSE.
Most in the know - are fully cognizant of the fact that incarceration is a trillion dollars business. Yes, I said a trillion dollars business.
Private industries and private corporations with so soul are investing in prisons - cheap labor, cheap products, and many City Governments are continuing the Slave Mentality - or the workings of a Plantation to be more precise.
Many of these companies go to a time when they acted as agents to bring slaves from far away places. Now, they use subtly ways to still continue the evil they have inherited in their DNA.
America has not been fair to the Native American. America has not been fair to the African American or Black.
It is amazing how many rich folks invest in prisons and the by products that come out of prisons. In some circle they brag - keep those they do not want to give opportunities to - away from so called - free society.
Now, it may surprise many that long after slavery was abolished - it took many, many years for Blacks to be really - free. For over eighty years plus - after Slavery was abolished many Whites took advantage of petty laws - and if a Black was found in a place and did not have the proper papers on her or him - she or he could be used as a slave - in a situation we know as incarceration.
Not much as been said about these cases and facts - because it requires much boldness and fortitude to speak the truth. Much has been said of truth as a cliche but those in the front lines - know what I speak off.
Many Black families can share - hurtful stories that go way back when - very painful but true all the same.
I learned a lot talking to the Black Buffalo Soldiers - many in their late nineties and what they told me - and what they witnessed and what they were told by their aged parents and grand parents - is and was horrendous and very painful.
Once is a way we will talk about the House Negro and the Field Negro - and to most Whites this talk makes no sense.
But, to those that toiled in the fields from sun dawn to sun set - it is more then just the hard work and pain - it is a living trauma. A trauma that has been passed from generation to generation. Often in the mix - against the field Negro was the House Negro. They continue to this day to do the Masta's will.
Today, is July 4th and in giving praise to God we must acknowledge the suffering and the contribution of Salve Labor all over this Nation. In days gone by, before - and today in our prisons and society.
Indentured Labor crosses all borders and all ethnicities - Black, White, Asians, you name them - in their ignorance those that take advantage - forget about the past - and how some human beings slaved other human beings - for lack of knowledge, compassion and human dignity.
While slavery is abolished technically in the United States it flourish in may parts of the world.
Today, is another day - and in proportion to the advancement of our knowledge and civility - we should have understood - better. But, no - caught up in the materialistic world we live in - today thousands slave for others - because of some evil people.
Many are denied their will to be free - in the year 2008. Some right here in San Francisco.
Here are some photographs from a time that this Nation should be ashamed of itself - but the fact is - this Nation uses other forms - such as incarceration - many a time without fairness and justice - to slave innocent people:
