Outsourcing has increased in government intelligence gathering. In recent years, intelligence contracting has grown into a private industry often blurring the lines between public and private sectors. In his new book, Spies for Hire, investigative journalist Tim Shorrock discusses the largely, unexaminded size, scope, and influence of this intelligence outsourcing and how sometimes it is at odds with congressional oversight and public accountability.
