The EZLN in Morelia

by Nico Rahim (nico [at] dionysusunemployed.net)
More than six months ago Subcomandante Marcos declared "Code Red," a warning to the EZLN and other that a war might be looming on the horizon. Over the past year the Mexican government has increased its military presence in an around the Zapatista communities, along with a further strengthening of the PRI paramilitaries throughout the Zapatista caracoles. Recently, a friend in D.F. told me Chiapas was close to chaos.

Below are a few photos taken at the Encuentro Entre Los Pueblos Zapatistas y Los Pueblos Del Mundo in Morelia, Chiapas, July 2007. During that time the EZLN had heavy patrols to conter the threat of paramilitaries in the area.
