In the three year period between 2003 and 2006, the US Left faced chaotic and quickly changing political conditions including the US war on Iraq, the US-backed invasion of Lebanon by Israel, and the devastation and displacement caused by Hurricane Katrina. What will it take to build a strong and vibrant Left in the U.S.? Join speakers from the Freedom Road Socialist Organization (FRSO); a member of the Bay Area Activist Study Circle, Chris Crass; and author of Revolution in the Air, Max Elbaum for a discussion based on questions and recommendations raised in Freedom Road Socialist Organization's--Which Way is Left.

10% of Event Book Sales Invested in:
CUAV: Community United Against Violence

MODERN TIMES’ ABILITY NOT ONLY TO SURVIVE, BUT TO THRIVE IS DIRECTLY RELATED TO THE HEALTH OF OUR COMMUNITY.

For over twenty-five years, Modern Times Bookstore's community has been centered in the Mission. It is no coincidence that as the face of the Mission changes, we find that keeping our doors open is increasingly difficult.

In order to insure a vibrant future that centers low-income people, working class Latin@ families, artists, and local business, Modern Times has committed to investing 10% of our event book sales to different organizations working for social justice and community vitality in the Mission.

For the duration of May and June, 10% of all event book sales will be donated towards the activities of Community United Against Violence (CUAV). Community United Against Violence (CUAV) is a multicultural organization working to end violence against and within our lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning (LGBTQQ) communities. They believe that in order to end homo/bi/transphobia, we must confront all forms of oppression, including racism, sexism, ageism, classism, and ableism.
