The 8 p.m. results are the absentee ballots turned in before June 3, 2008 and are in the majority on the conservative side as too many workingclass voters still vote on election day. On the other hand, it is a crescendo from there, as the results get better as the count increases. Remember, we save rent control by either:
1. Defeating Prop 98 with 50% plus 1 vote No on 98 or
2. Prop 99 winning more votes than Prop 98, if they both pass.
In San Francisco, it is the workingclass vote that will pass Prop F and defeat Prop G, if it is a large vote, which it is expected to be as San Francisco is mobilized to vote No on 98/Yes on 99 and Yes on F/No on G. There is also a hotly contested state senate race east of Twin Peaks, the tenant side, and various party central committees have candidates on the ballot, all stimulating interest in this election.
Outside San Francisco, tell your friends in the rest of the state who support rent control they must vote No on 98 and Yes on 99, and their vote is desperately need. We need Los Angeles County to lead with full force to save rent control, voting overwhelmingly No on 98/Yes on 99.
