More sights and sounds from Reclaim the Streets against Prop 98
On May 31st, Reclaim the Streets SF reclaimed the streets of the Mission with an unpermitted street party to spread the word "vote NO" on 98, the measure funded by landlords to end rent control in California.
Originally formed in London in Autumn 1991 as huge anti-car street parties, RTS is a worldwide "dis-organization" promoting the ideal of community ownership of public spaces, and a part of the resistance movement opposing the dominance of corporate forces in our communities and globally.
Bicycle sound systems were synchronized via micropower FM transmission.
A wireless PA system, built with a cordless phone, allows anyone in the crowd to speak and chant.
Other sound systems have portable radios to relay the music.
Conservative talk radio will love San Francisco's latest ballot measure.
