Sacramento Peace Calendar Update: Iraq Body County Exhibit Starts May 24
Here is the Sacramento Peace Calendar Update, courtesy of Sacramento Area Peace Action (http://www.peace.org). Volunteers are needed for the Iraq Body Count Exhibit starting on Saturday, May 24 at 9 a.m.
In a big victory for freedom of speech, the Sacramento City Council voted on Tuesday to allow the flag display to go forward as originally planned. "After taking two rounds of votes, the council agreed to change policy to allow the median strip to be used as a public forum and directed the city dept. of transportation to provide a permit for us," said Debra Reiger of the Sacramento Coalition to the End the War.

ELL BOXER AND FEINSTEIN TO VOTE NO ON MORE WAR FUNDING
On Thursday, May 22 it is likely that the Senate will vote on Bush's $169 billion request to continue the disaterous occupation of Iraq. The House voted against these funds last week, but the money was put back into the Senate bill. (Both Matsui and Thompson voted AGAINST the funding!)
Call Senators Boxer and Feinstein and tell them to vote NO on any more funding that continues the occupation (to the tune of $341 million a day!). Tell them we want the occupation ended and the troops brought home now. Money should ONLY be approved for taking care of veterans and for rebuilding the damage we have done to Iraq.
Both can be reached through the Congressional Switchboard: 202-224-3121.
