BERKELEY GREEN MONDAY EVENT
TITLE: "Democratic Struggles in the Muslim World and the Rise of Neocolonialism”
PRESENTER: Agha Saeed
Focusing on the heroic struggle of Pakistani lawyers, Dr. Saeed will discuss how in its dealings with the Third World, the West continues to contravene its own ideals and principles, seeks to co-opt these democratic struggles via track-two and track-three diplomacy, and, most painfully, uses the these struggles to squeeze even more concessions from the dictatorial regimes.

Dr. Agha Saeed is chairman of the American Muslim Alliance and a lecturer in the Program in Asian Studies at California State University, East Bay. He studied at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University and received his Ph.D. in rhetoric from UC Berkeley.

Time: 7:30pm to 9:30pm
