Celebrate the 21st Annual Bike Week in Santa Cruz County with the entire bicycling community—from long-time commuters and recreational riders to novice bike commuters, young and old. Again we have a schedule full of fun, informative and inclusive events. Here are a few highlights:

Saturday, May 10 and Sunday, May 11
Bike Fest Jump Jam. The best local and national freestyle BMX and MTN riders launch big air at the Bicycle Trip Bike Park. Valet Bike Parking by People Power.

1. Activist RIDE : Tuesday, May 13: *Mission Street Action. Meet at 6PM at the town clock
for a safety awareness ride on Mission Street that will end at the City
Council Meeting where the council will decide whether or not to post
signs on Mission that say “BICYCLES MAY USE FULL LANE”

*If you just cannot make the ride or Council meeting, please send an
email to citycouncil [at] ci.santa-cruz.ca.us. Feel free to support efforts to
encourage cyclists to use a to-be-improved King Street, while
supporting installation of “BICYCLES MAY USE FULL LANE” signs to make
Mission Street safer.

2. Breakfast Ride: Thursday, May 15th: Bike to Work/School Day. Free breakfast for
cyclists at sites throughout the county (including Mission Street). Find out
the closest site, and get more info on the non-political parts of bike
week at bike2work.com.

3. Ride the Train and RIde:
Saturday, May 17th: Rail and Trail Day. 10AM at Depot Park in downtown
Santa Cruz. We've booked the train to Roaring Camp (Felton) and are
selling wholesale tickets (Adults: $6/Children under 12: $3) for this fun
event. Put your bike on the train and then ride down Highway 9 en mass
with CHP escort. Ride concludes at the River Arts Festival in San
Lorenzo Park. To purchase your tickets, stop by the office People Power
office at 703 Pacific, or go to our website for a list of other vendor

4. Wacky Art Race:
Sunday, May 18th: Kinetic Sculpture Race. 11AM, at San Lorenzo Park.
Note: Entry Fee and Pre-Registration Waived!
Create an artistic vision of human powered motion (pedal or foot powered)
and run the risk of being declared world's best artist. Show up early
to register. The 3/4 mile course should give you plenty of time to
pedal your sculpture to the River Fest
