Venezuelan Music Ensemble Visiting Bay Area on U.S. Tour

The famous Venezuelan music and dance ensemble Los Vasallos del Sol perform in San Francisco on Saturday, May 10th. They will also speak at local public events and will be available for interviews by the press.
Los Vasallos del Sol, the Venezuelan musical sensation never before seen in the United States, is featured at this year’s Yerba Buena Gardens Festival in San Francisco on Saturday, May 10th. The 28-member ensemble interprets diverse music and dance traditions that portray Venezuelan heritage, from the African-inspired rhythms of the Caribbean to the folk ballads of the inland plains. The group has recorded five albums, most recently their 15-year anniversary disc, Quince años (2005).

This first U.S. tour for Los Vasallos del Sol is presented by the Embassy of Venezuela and sponsored by Citgo Corporation in collaboration with the Fundación Bigott, a private foundation committed to supporting Venezuelan popular culture. This tour exemplifies Venezuela’s new vision of cultural inclusiveness and promotion of cultural diversity. It includes a performance at the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, DC.

Members of Los Vasallos del Sol and the Cultural Attaché of the Embassy of Venezuela in Washington, DC will participate in public forums on Venezuela and will be available for interviews beginning on Thursday, May 9th. The concert will be held on Saturday the 10th from 1-3pm at the Esplanade, 760 Howard Street.
