Body of War at La Jolla Village Cinema and in SF

by DeeDee Halleck (dhalleck [at] ucsd.edu)
Great anti-war film is playing in California. Please go to see it! The more people who see it, the more theaters will open.
Body of War is an intimate and transformational feature documentary about the true face of war today. Meet Tomas Young, 25 years old, paralyzed from a bullet to his spine - wounded after serving in Iraq for less than a week.

Body of War is Tomas' coming home story as he evolves into a new person, coming to terms with his disability and finding his own unique and passionate voice against the war. The film is produced and directed by Phil Donahue and Ellen Spiro, and features two original songs by Eddie Vedder. Body of War is a naked and honest portrayal of what it's like inside the body, heart and soul of this extraordinary and heroic young man.

how is watching a movie going to end the war?

instead of giving your $$ to phil donahue, eddie vedder and other rich fat cats, why not give it to a local group working to end the war?

instead of sitting in a movie theater, why not do something that will have a direct impact on ending the war. examples of such actions might include joining a local group working to end the war, like Project YANO ( projectyano.org ), and blocking the entrance to a recruiting station, a military base or one of the thousands of contractors and sub-contractors participating in the genocide of the Iragi and Afghani people?

and why is indymedia hosting this advertisement for a for-profit enterprise? i thought you all were noncommercial.
