"60 years of displacement: The root cause of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and prospects for a just peace."

60 years after “Al Naqba” or “the catastrophe” in which the Israeli War of Independence and creation of the State of Israel resulted in the creation of 750,000 Palestinian refugees, the Palestinian Ambassador to the USA will discuss the origins of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and possibilities for a just peace. The Ambassador will speak to the stalled peace negotiations, the role of Hamas in the Palestine National Authority, building alliances between Israelis and Palestinians, and joining efforts of progressive Israelis and Palestinians with peace and human
rights forces in the USA.

Afif Safieh has served as head of the Palestine Liberation Organization diplomatic delegation to the United States in Washington DC for 2 ! years and is a remarkably articulate, pragmatic and forward-looking advocate and a bridge-builder among many Palestinian, Jewish and other people around the world working for a just and sustainable resolution to the conflict.
