The
Bike Church and Santa Cruz Trash Orchestra Present
![]() Fun With Scrap Metal a free skool santa cruz workshop Saturday Apr 26th 11am Bike Church, 703 Pacific Ave Santa Cruz, CA A Trash Orchestra Build Day with the Bike Church. BIKE CHURCH: We are sick and tired of sending busted bike parts and other metal to the scrap pile at the dump when it has so much potential to be turned into mobiles, jewelry and musical instruments! Come, play around, and try your hand at making metal stuff out of other metal stuff. We'll make new and never-before-seen creations, new instruments, a trash symphony. Feel free to bring any other materials you would be interested in incorporating into your design. TRASH ORCHESTRA: Let's hang out and make beautiful music (and instruments) together! Bring materials for making instruments: scrap metal, padding, durable cloth, duct tape, bailing wire, pots, pans, drumstix, broom handles, buckets, barrels, copper tubing, PVC pipe, bits of resonant metal, copper and steel pipe, bamboo, rope, barrels, buckets, and whatever else speaks to you. Here we'll have various tools, welder, cutter, some wood. (Be prepared to take anything unclaimed away with you) Photos of past Trash Orchestra Build Days: http://www.flickr.com/photos/rthunder/sets/72157601005411145/ And for additional inspiration, here are some homemade instrument links:
