by ntuit
Five years ago Oakland police attacked non-violent anti-war protestors at Port of Oakland

On Monday, April 7th, 2003 - five years ago - Oakland police staged a violent attack on peaceful anti-war protestors at the Port of Oakland. In more enlightened times, this event would have been a clarion call to the nation that suppression of our rights and freedoms had gone to far. Instead it seems to be fading in memory. DO NOT FORGET. This was a major incident in which americans were enjoying the rights to freely express themselves against an illegal and immoral war. They were viciously attacked by the Oakland Police Force.

The city of Oakland has failed to take responsiblity for this very serious incident and has failed to hold public hearings and their promised investigation by outside parties fell apart. What a disgrace.

You found out real quick that your right to protest ends with trying to block military shipments to a theater of war. Haven't seen you trying to block anymore out bound shipments. Fucking with them as they return is another matter, but anti war idiots will be what they are, slowing the troops journey home with their equipment. The rest of the nations Cops could learn a great lesson from the actions of the OPD.
"F*cking with them when they return is another matter." Are you talking about the shipments back of young dead american soldiers sent to a war that was totally unnecessary? If the protestors at the Port of Oakland had had their way over 4,000 american would still have their lives and hundreds of thousand if not millions of Iraqis would still be alive. But apparently they don't matter to you. Why haven't you signed up and gone over to support our president?
