Battle of Berkeley Part 1
On Feb 12, 2 sides faced off in Berkeley. On the one side were anti-war and progressive people supporting the city council's resolution last week saying that marine recruiters are unwelcome in Berkeley. On the other side were pro-Iraq war, pro-marine reactionaries mobilized by talk radio etc. Despite all the media reports that hordes od pro-war people would be decending on Berkeley the anti-marine recruiter protesters outnumbered the reactionaries most of the day. Hundreds of Berkeley High students Berkeley High students joined the protest.
Both sides faced off at 5 am Tuesday Morning.
Youth who normally skate in the area where the pro-Marine demonstrators were took up orange bandannas and challenged the reactionaries. The reactionaries couldn't contain their racist, condescending attitudes which further pissed off these youth.
A Berkeley High School Teacher brought his art class to draw and photograph the protests
