Nation Joins State Senate Race in Blow to Migden
Monday, February 11, 2008 : Former Marin County Assemblymember Joe Nation announced Saturday that he is joining Mark Leno and Joe Alioto Veronese in the State Senate race against Carole Migden. Nation’s entry makes him the only Marin-based candidate in the contest, and immediately weakens Migden’s base in that county. Internal polls have shown Migden holding an edge in name recognition in Marin over her other competitors, but now Nation is likely to take votes from the incumbent in that county.

Many assume Nation’s late entry reflects polling data showing that Migden is in deep political trouble. Now one of her chief arguments for re-election---that Leno was motivated by personal rather than political factors---has been eliminated by the campaigns of first Veronese and now Nation.
