Keynote Speaker: Uhuru Movement Leader Omali Yeshitela - On U.S. tour, just returned from Africa Yeshitela will bring the African working class perspective on the elections addresses Obama's platform as it relates to issues such as Africans losing their homes from the subprime mortgage collapse, facing massive imprisonment, increasing poverty and police violence. Omali Yeshitela represents the African working class perspective and is the founder of the Burning Spear Newspaper and the author of several books including One Africa! One Nation! In the 1980’s, Yeshitela was headquartered in Oakland where he led numerous campaigns and projects, including putting Measure O, a community control of housing initiative on the ballot and establishing the Uhuru House black community center.
