Urgent: Gather Signatures for Animals on California Farms!
There are less than three weeks left to get the signatures needed to put a historic animal welfare initiative on the November 2008 ballot in California!
If it passes, the Prevention of Farm Animal Cruelty Act will ban battery cages for egg-laying hens, gestation crates for pregnant pigs, and veal crates for baby cows in the state by 2015. This voter initiative would provide the most basic protections to more than 20 million animals on California farms every year, and save them from having to spend their lives unable to turn around and extend their limbs.
Animal advocates are nearing the 650,000 California voter petition signatures they need by February 22nd, 2008, but it's going to be a close contest, so please do your part by hitting the streets in next two and a half weeks!
