IRSN: San Francisco St. Patrick's Day Anti-Imperialist Contingent
After having boycotted the San Francisco St. Patrick's Day parade last year, to
protest the parade organizers having dedicated the parade in 2007 to the troops of
the US military, the International Republican Socialist Network's comrades in the
San Francisco Bay Area will again be participating in the parade this year and are
inviting other activists to join the IRSN's Anti-Imperialist Contingent.

While the IRSN's mobile entry in the parade will focus on the failure of the Good
Friday Agreement to bring meaningful change for the nationalist working class of the
occupied six counties over the course of the past ten years, the Anti-Imperialist
Contingent will be marching in opposition to the war in Iraq, in support of the
slogan, "No War But The Class War!"
While details will not be available until much closer to the parade date, the San
Francisco St. Patrick's Day parade will be Saturday, March 15th, this year and an
assembly time of approximately 10:30 AM is anticipated. The IRSN welcomes all
socialist, anarchists, and other anti-imperialist activist to join the
Anti-Imperialist Contingent to demonstrate both their opposition to the war in Iraq
and their support for the struggle for national liberation and socialism in Ireland.
Identifying organizational banners are welcome.
All those marching as a part of the Anti-Imperialist Contingent, organized by the
IRSN, are invited to join us for our traditional, Margaritas and Nachos post-parade
party (dedicated to the memory of the San Patricios, who deserted from the US Army
to join in the fight against US imperialism during the Mexican-American War)--a
time-honored tradition of ours, ever popular with parade participants.
Comrades of the IRSN from elsewhere in North America, especially those in the West
and Pacific Northwest, are invited to join in participating in the parade as well
and some accommodations can be arranged for comrades travelling to the Bay Area to
participate.
Details will be made available as they become known, but early confirmation of
intent to participate by organizations or individuals is always appreciated.
