Dear Canada: Let War Resisters Stay! II

Canadians are opposing this aggression against the middle east headed by U.S. Imperialism, by a large majority (70%). The present neo-conservative government was elected by approx. 29% of the eligible voters. Approx. 40% of the eligible voters of workers, industrial and farmer-peasant, and students simply didn't vote at all, believing that the politicians of feudal-bourgeois-enslaving orders (profits for pollution) didn't represent them and never will. Thus a minority conservative government rules-- by gerrymandering the voting system so they make 100% of the laws. This war of nuking the holyland is very unpopular amongst the majority of Canadians, and the organized anti-war movement has set the movement towards the support and solidarity of the U.S. G.I.s and other armed forces that are revolting against the illegal violence and unjust wars of the Bushco regime. You are correct to picket and protest these wars around the Canadian consulates and embassies in the U.S. and hopefully around the world. These G.I. war resisters are not criminals, but class conscious commonwealth soldiers that can see that targeting and killing civilians is a war crime, along with the torturing and killing of prisoners of war, and collective punishment such as ' Shock and Awe " the bombing to rubble of hundreds of villages, towns and cities throughout the middle east because the peoples there have legitimately decided to oppose the illegal invasion and occupation of their homelands.

The Geneva Conventions of war is an anti-fascist document brought into being by the anti-fascist fighters of the second world war, and is signed on to by the majority countries including Canada, Britain, and the United States, and is regarded as internaitonal law globally. It is the anti-fascist covenants that the Pentagon and the Bushco regime is trying to break with appointing Attournys-General who favour torture which is illegal and a war crime and never to be used for any time place or reason. The patriote act is an attempt to break the U.S. constitution which requires habaeous Corpus such as public trials, charges, lawyers for both sides, and juries with courts and judges. There is no due process with the patriote act with unspecified arrest and detention time, and it makes us wonder why the both houses passed it without really debating the contents nationally and internationally. The anti-war resisters are breaking with the Militarism that has recently proved to be lying and unjustly punishing their true beliefs in justice and freedom of conscience. Canadians understand that Bushco's war is based on lies and that torture is a crime even by the human rights resolutions of the United Nations. We in the peoples anti-war movement therefore welcome the resisters as those who have opted for the liberation side and seek asylum from the storm. We will continue to organize support and solidarity with all those that oppose this unjust war and illegal violence, and in Canada we are organizing for an Anti-war government in the comming elections.
