Corruption in the Green Party

by Electric Politics Campaign Podcast
George Kenney interviews John Murphy who describes the similarities and differences of Progressive Democrats, greens that accomodate democrats (Demogreens), and Independent Greens. He also describes how Demogreens have virtually wrecked the Green Party.

Listen to this podcast this if you want to understand where the Green Party is today... and why the national quagmire, wars, and lies continue.

Here is the description of the program:

"Most Americans want policies neither party has offered them: an end to the occupation of Iraq; return to the rule of law and constitutional protections; workable health care; decent paying jobs; a clean and safe environment; energy security — in short, the replacement of monied special interests by public spirited actors. Internationally, similar preferences have translated into electoral success for Green parties. Here in the U.S., not so much. Why not? According to John Murphy, a Green Party activist from Pennsylvania, Greens have been co-opted by the Democrats, who are more interested in winning elections than in implementing socially progressive policies. I think John's right, and I also think his prescription of what to do about it makes sense. This one starts with some dry procedural nuts and bolts but soon moves into lively, interesting territory. Total runtime an hour and nine minutes. Listen and participate!"

Everyone needs to know that Mr. Murphy does not represent most Greens. Please consider him as an individual and NOT as a representative of the Green Party. Very few Greens accept his analysis. No one says they are a "DemoGreen," a fiction he has created.

Yes, there is diversity within the many people calling themselves Greens, and we vigorously discuss these differences. But we all agree on the need for an alternative to the 2 major Parties. Almost all Greens want to appeal to the "grassroots" people who are currently in the Democrats; we want everyone who supports our values to join the Green Party (10 Key Values - see http://www.gp.org).

Agreed here! Attacking McKinney as a "Demogreen" when she was forced out of the Dems for not playing their game, is ridiculous. She has shown amazing courage to stand up to Rumsfeld, to speak the truth about 9/11, to expose election fraud, but now she isn't far left enough or popular enough?

She is our first real 'defector' at the Congressional level.

That is huge. Cindy Sheehan was the first prominent person to openly leave the Dems. Cynthia McKinney was the next. This is a threat to the 2 party system.

Nader and McKinney are both courageous and strong people, and either -- or both -- will do fine to represent us. The party isn't perfect, but ask yourself what political party is. We're all volunteer and take no corporate donations.
