Pro-Choice Womyn Represent!
Video of Bay Area demonstration against the Anti-Choice March for Life
Womyn, Men, Straight and LGBTI all came out to say that people have the right to make their own choices about reproduction! The right to Choose is not negotiable, and yet it is being incrementally reduced for women in poverty, immigrant women and young women all across the county by revision of state laws. These laws deny Roe v Wade it's original intent, to provide access to safe and legal abortion. The Right Wing is growing emboldened and has now expanded it's march to the East Bay. Thank you to all participants who came out for Choice. Please continue to represent for Reproductive Rights, you are needed now more than ever, when the corporate press chooses to ignore the issue of womens rights. See you in the streets!

Thank you for all the folks who marched along side these morons on Saturday. My question for all of us, though, was why stop at the bottom of that hill??? Did I miss this as part of the plan? We kept going next to them up the hill and I wonder why more people didn't do this...by the time we got to the pier there were only 4 or 5 of us left! I think we showed good courage and spirit and humor coming out to represent some sanity, I just wished we could have organized it a little better and showed some more persistence.
Please join us in planning next year. There were logistical reasons for ending where we did, obviously planning is not something we can discuss here where we are surveiled by antis and others.
Every pregnancy ends. And each woman must be allowed to
determine when her pregnancy will terminate. Thank
you to the people who are standing up for each woman's
right to decide how her own body will be used.
Those of us who electively terminated our pregnancies
prior to Roe v. Wade know that abortion must continue
to be safe, legal and accessible for every woman or
girl who will elect to have one. Thank you for marching
and for speaking out for our human right to
self-determination. We are more than a uterus
with legs.

It does suck that for some reason they keep hanging out here. I guess it's possible that Indybay has some readers who haven't made up their minds about this issue yet... but it's not like there's anything to hide - it's just a march. And for those of us who can't attend meetings, it's kind of the only way we can participate or get some insight into planning processes.
I have marched all the way to the Marina a couple of times, and it really wasn't worth it- the rest of the pro-choicers were either way behind or not coming, and it felt bad to be surrounded by so many anti's (plus, it's not like there's a big audience in Fort Mason or in the Marina, where I'm sure people take the right to choose for granted and would rather go to the bars that go to a march). Plus it's like a whole 'nother half hour, and I could have posted half of my pictures by then...
