It is with deepest heartfelt sorrow, we gather today Friday, Jan 18th, in front of the MRS (Marine Recruiting Station)* at noon to bewail the brutal death and remember the short life of Maria Lauterbach, the pregnant Marine whose body was recovered last week.

We also will bewail and remember the myriad of women and children who live constantly with the daily threat, to often successful, of the violence of death, rape, torture.

Please bring something for an alter, a poem, a picture, a few words - whatever you find meaningful for this senseless slaughter. An instrument, a song, a missive.

We plan to build the alter and to bring letters into the station to give to the Marines as well.

This is also an Iraq Moratorium action.

*MRS is located at 64 Shattuck Square, on Shattuck Ave just south of University where Shattuck runs one-way north. Also 2 blocks north of Berkeley BART
