Set for February 15th, 2008 at the Laney College Theater in Oakland, California, the Oakland Digital Inclusion Summit will be a collective step forward for organizations and service providers working to end the digital divide in Northern California. A direct implementation of Mayor Ron Dellums Citizen Task Force on Universal Access to Technology and the Internet, the summit will feature the public launching of Digital Inclusion Oakland – a network of service providers and resource centers
with a broad range of technical and educational offerings.

The summit is the first of its kind in the region. Given the problems that plague private partnership strategies for broadband access, there is a pressing need for the development of new models that genuinely serve low-income communities. Oakland is in a prime position to create digital inclusion policies that safeguard the interests and concerns of everyone.

Anyone with an interest in community access to technology is welcome to attend this free event. Entertainment and light refreshments provided.
