Dear Friends of KPFA/Pacifica,

According to the http://www.kpfa.org website, the "next Public KPFA LSB meeting will be held on Saturday, January 12th, 2008, starting at 11AM, at Cafe De La Paz - 1600 Shattuck in Berkeley." I strongly urge everyone interested in progressive discourse in the media and, especially, on the airwaves of Northern California to please attend and voice your content or discontent with the current state of KPFA as a voice of the silenced, for people of colour, for voices of dissent, as a voice for activists, for the working poor, for the marginalised.

Given all of the recent and significant events, including union-busting at KPFA (decertification of the Unpaid Staff Organization), banning of the Labour Collective, undermining of the KPFA Program Council, to the apparent behind-closed-doors KPFA LSB deliberation regarding hiring embattled interim General Manager Lemlem Rijio (apparent "Concerned Listeners" accomplice, see http://www.indybay.org/newsitems/2007/11/19/18462193.php) as new Permanent General Manager of KPFA (among the many in opposition to furthering the current power structure at KPFA was Dennis Bernstein, veteran KPFA programmer and "Flashpoints" producer--see 11.17.07 KPFA LSB meeting), the mysterious and sudden absence of Nicole Sawaya during her brief resurgence as Executive Director of Pacifica, and, most significantly, the corrupted KPFA LSB Elections of 2007, there is much to be considered, voiced, discussed, and debated. At the last KPFA LSB meeting (12.15.07), the politically dominant section of the Board representing the new power elite at KPFA, "Concerned Listeners," attempted to seat the new LSB members (the majority of which shall represent the so-called "Concerned Listeners"), despite the fact that the 2007 KPFA LSB Elections had not yet been certified. Please urge all of your friends and family members who are interested in peace and social justice to attend this critical meeting.

In solidarity for democracy, peace and social & economic justice,

Felipe Messina, KPFA listener-member

While you are there, please protest filling the 6 p.m. newscasts with 15 to 20 minutes of chatting about the staged Democrat-Republican primaries, the twin parties of war and fascism whose candidates are all working together to put one in office to represent the capitalist class these 2 wings of the capitalist party represent. The only 2 peace parties on the ballot are the socialist (Peace & Freedom Party in California) and the Green Party, on the ballot in all 50 states and Washington, D.C. We have yet to hear anything about the Iowa and New Hampshire socialist and Green candidates, much less all the rest of the country. CALIFORNIA'S PRIMARY IS FEBRUARY 5 AND WE START VOTING JANUARY 7. KPFA STILL HAS NOT COVERED THE PEACE & FREEDOM PARTY AND GREEN PARTY CANDIDATES IN THE CALIFORNIA PRIMARY IN FEBRUARY AND JUNE. Since these are only primaries, all of which are beauty contests since it is the party conventions that are the deciding place for the party candidates, election news should be limited to 5 minutes for candidates from the socialist and Green Parties and 5 minutes for the propositions. I am listening to lots of music as soon as I hear the campaign gibberish so I will probably be missing the KPFA fundraisers completely since in February the first half hour will probably be Demo-Republican campaign news followed by the usual second half hour of money pitching, which I always skip as I only need to hear it once and I get that one time either on Guns and Butter or Flashpoints. I do not listen to 2 weeks or more of fundraising and will not listen to any campaign garbage on the warmongering, anti-single payer, pro-insurance company, Democrat-Republican, anti-Palestinian, pro-Israel, pro-death penalty candidates, and that is what the Democrat-Republican parties are.
