NEW Year call for NO Torture: Demo in San Jose

by Raging Grannies (info [at] RagingGrannies.com)
January 1, 2008: Activists SKATED , SANG, and DEMONSTRATED
at the downtown San Jose Ice Rink where Jeppesen Dataplan displays a corporate banner...
The company handles the logistics for the CIA’s torture flights and continues to be a sponsor of the city's ice rink,
despite the fact that THE SANTA CLARA COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS recently went on record as
supporting the Torture Outsourcing Prevention Act and
MENTIONING JEPPESEN BY NAME as implicated in the outsourcing of torture

The Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors has gone on record as opposing Jeppesen's activities and supporting
House Resolution 1352, the Torture Outsourcing Prevention Act.

Jeppesen maintains an office near the ice rink in downtown San Jose. We want residents to know about it. Our colorful demonstration brought attention to the issue.

We are pretty sure most skaters take little note of Jeppesen\'s corporate banner at the rink. However, we have asked the City of San Jose to remove it on several occasions. No success so far, but with the new County Supervisors\' Resolution, naming Jeppesen as complicit in torture, we are hoping the city of San Jose will rethink this.
