Prop 92 will lower tuition fees to $15 a unit and keep the fees low
in the future; it will improve community college funding and it will
put the community college governance structure on equal footing with the
CSU and UC systems. It would be a big win for the people of
California for Prop 92 to pass. People who believe in more funding for
quality education ought to be backing Prop 92 enthusiastically.

Prop 92 lowers credit student fees from $20 per credit unit to $15, and it makes
it very difficult to do future fee hikes. Prop 92 will hold the line on tuition
for higher ed. public schools, unlike the UC and CSU systems, who routinely
propose 10% hikes in tuition. UC is on a fast road to privatization, and CSU
seems to want to follow in their footsteps.
And it stabilizes funding for community colleges, ensuring that we receive
funding based on our student population (presently under Prop 98, both the k-12
system and the community college system are funded on k-12 demographics. This
will be a huge problem in the next 3-4 years because k-12 student demographics
are now dropping slightly--the baby boom echo has just passed out of the k-12
student range--while community college demographics (18-25) will continue to
rise for the next few years. If Prop 92 doesn't pass, we won't get the funding
needed to serve our students.
