Intensifying crisis in the former Yugoslavia

While not in the headlines, a growing crisis in the former Yugoslavia poses the real threat of a new war. Today, more than 8 years after the U.S.-led NATO war, 17,000 troops continue to occupy Kosovo, a province of Serbia. Backed by the U.S., Britain, France and Germany, leaders of Kosovo are about to unilaterally declare independence, which could set off new conflicts there and in neighboring Bosnia and Croatia.
