This morning (Thurs, Nov.29), The Pacifica Radio/KPFK Los Angeles show "Uprising Radio" featured Journalists for Mumia and the recent joint media-activist campaign focusing on the Dec.6 NBC Today Show, organized with Educators for Mumia and The International Concerned Family and Friends of Mumia Abu-Jamal (ICFFMAJ).

This comes at an important time because Pam Africa of ICFFMAJ has a scheduled telephone conference with The Today Show on Friday, so people are being urged to please take a minute and contact The Today Show to express as much support as possible before Pam Africa's telephone conference.

A major Philadelphia demonstration is being organized for December 8 (please download flier and spread the word).

Also, Journalists for Mumia is organizing a press conference for next week (DATE AND LOCATION TO BE ANNOUNCED SOON) which will feature a slide show of the newly discovered crime scene photos, Pam Africa, and several Philadelphia journalists who have covered the Abu-Jamal case.

Journalists Decry Racism in Media Coverage of Mumia

GUEST: Hans Bennett, Journalists for Mumia

On December 6th, NBC’s Today Show will feature a new book coinciding with its release date about death-row journalist Mumia Abu Jamal. The book’s title, “Murdered by Mumia,” reveals its intent. It is co-written by the widow of the Philadelphia Police Officer that Abu Jamal was convicted of killing, Maureen Faulkner, and conservative radio talk show host Michael Smerconish. The book, say Faulkner and Smerconish is “the first … to carefully and definitively lay out the case against Abu-Jamal, and those who’ve elevated him to the status of political prisoner.” Fearing a program rife with bias, the group “Journalists for Mumia” are calling on NBC to ensure that all sides are fairly represented on next week’s Today Show. They contend that there has been a history of media bias with respect to covering the case of Mumia Abu Jamal.
