Mapuche Political Prisoners: 35 Days on Hunger Strike
Barricades in Concepción [Chile]

published: November 16, 2007 [Translated from Spanish]

The manifestations in aid to the Mapuche political prisoners don't stop. This Wednesday, in the framework of the third day of protest called by the hunger strikers from Angol, a group of adherents of the Coordinadora Arauco Malleco again burst out in Concepción.

This time, after nine at night, one of the principle entrances to the city, Gral. Bonilla avenue, was blocked, interrupting transit for about an hour, without arrests.

Pamphlets mentioned the rejection of the capitalist and big landowner invasion of Mapuche territory, and the objectives of the hunger strike:

- Freedom for all the Mapuche political prisoners
- The end of the militarization and repression of the Mapuche communities in conflict
