Ward Churchill with Richard Brown of the SF8
$5–10 donation to benefit the SF8 defense (no one turned away) Although COINTELPRO formally ended in the 1970s, the US government continues to wage covert operations and other repressive tactics to "expose, disrupt, misdirect, discredit, or otherwise neutralize" radical social movements. Ward Churchill (co-author of The COINTELPRO Papers) will speak on the history of COINTELPRO and the State's ongoing campaigns of repression targeting dissident groups. Richard Brown will speak on behalf of The SF8, eight former Black Panthers whose recent arrest on previously-dismissed charges demonstrates that COINTELPRO is alive and well. Event co-sponsored and made possible by The Freedom Archives. |
