Journalism professor Peter Phillips and his student assistants will talk about 25 issues of social significance that aren’t getting the coverage that they deserve, particularly issues touching on the erosion of civil rights in this country. Project Censored is a media research group associated with Sonoma State University that has been tracking the news published in independent journals and newsletters for 31 years. From these, Project Censored compiles an annual list of 25 news stories of social significance that have been overlooked, under-reported or self-censored by the country's major national news media. Peter Phillips, the director of Project Censored, is Professor of Sociology at Sonoma State University. He is known for his op-ed pieces in the alternative press and independent newspapers nationwide, such as Z Magazine and Social Policy. Suggested Donation, $10-20. For more information, contact Mary Alice O’Connor at 925-933-7850 or info [at] mtdpc.org.
