FASCISM COMES TO SAN FRANCISCO ENDING HALLOWEEN CELEBRATION

by ntuit
ARMED POLICE STATIONED THROUGHOUT CASTRO DISTRICT-STORES & PUBS CLOSED IN OBEYANCE
San Francisco, CA. - The grinch stole Christmas. And in a city once known for its tolerance and playfulness, the city government of San Francisco stole Halloween. Neo fascism is creeping up in America and no greater example is that of San Francisco. Once considered tolerant, liberal it now begins to take on the strains of fascism. Yes, even in San Francisco, the city police have put up 24 hour monitoring video cameras. Tonight, Halloween, the city government more or less closed down the famous Castro Street Halloween and many of the small businesses were complicit in the close down. While hundreds of police outnumbered those with costumes and almost all the bars and restaurants were closed, the spirit of fun that has been a part of San Francisco legend for decades was destroyed.

Much of the credit for this crack down can go to gay supervisor Bevan Dufty who represents the Castro District. No need to look for a progressive here. This one apparently took heed of the Oakland Police Department’s shut down of community celebrations such as The Festival By The Lake and the Carijama Festival. This is the new America. The one where the government will impose itself and do a total shut down of public events. Was this necessary or was it basically a showcase of how government can shut things down when it wants to? How government can invade the cultural, social and spiritual life of communities and assert its authority over it all.

Yes, there was violence last year but should that have meant a death penalty for a beloved event in the City of San Francisco? For many this is just another brick being torn out of the fabric of our society. This kind of things along with ICE raids of family homes in the middle of the night, or dedicated workers being led away from their work in handcuffs because they had latino names or didn’t have the right papers. Or people being swept up, kidnapped off the streets by our own government with no due process, no notification of next of kin. Or our own citizens held in trumped up charges. Or people who were maybe speaking out of turn being tasered and that being sanctioned by the state powers. Or a government which gives protection to lawless guns for hire who murder with impunity in the streets of Iraq. Where are we heading and would you ever believe that San Francisco would be the place were Halloween ended.

The cops have played bully-boy (and of course, bully-girl) in the Castro for decades. The only difference is, Winston Smith has finally learned to love Big Brother.

Nobody was forcing you to go to the Castro every year, there were plenty of other parties around the bay if you cared enough to look.

But feel free to bitch and moan that you can't come to the Castro -- where what was once a fun night out in a small neighborhood turned into an annual fiasco for business owners and citizens like. Your little tangential rant about the mean ol' government constantly taking away your right to party -- very dramatic. It should have violin music playing in the background.

"For many this is just another brick being torn out of the fabric of our society."

Can I quote this? I love mixed metaphors.
In case you never noticed, the police are always armed. The taxpayers are liable for any city sponsored event and all injuries at that event. With the shootings last year at this stupidity for mentally ill adults who apparently are not tired from the work day and have nothing else to do on a week night but relive childhood as childhood ends at age 10, the city had no choice but finally but an end to something they should never have started, namely providing stages for this garbage. They apparently did provide some toilets for the few idiots who showed up. As to bars, they are never missed. You can guzzle your alcohol at home or at your indoor parties elsewhere. We saw during the day who paraded around in costumes on the job, the minority of young people (not all young people) who never got over childhood. As to your Christmas, better known as the Money Season, we do not want to hear anything about it. Whether you emphasize the superstition, Christianity, or the conspicuous consumption to show off your wealth, or your reliving of childhood with your tree decorating parties and your preoccupation with Santa Claus, please keep your hypocritical nonsense to yourself. Millions of us avoid the whole stupidity and to the extent that we do, we enjoy peace.

Halloween: uniting vicious guppie pigs and bitter old reds in a common cause against unauthorized fun in the streets!

Like the flyers said, "because your father said NO! That's why."

... and if you don't stop crying, daddy will give you something to cry about, I'd imagine. One way or another.

Putting the "boo" back in "boo hoo," ya might say.
All people who are agsinst street parties on Halloween, and against people socializing in bars, and against the semi non-religious fun aspects of Christmas, repeat after me: "Bah humbug!" Maybe you psrtty poopers will gets visits from ghosts tonight.

*You, Yes You, Stand Still Laddie!*

When we grew up and went to school, there were certain teachers who would hurt the children anyway they could
by pouring their derision upon anything we did
exposing any weakness however carefully hidden by the kids.

But in the town it was well known
When they got home at night their fat and psychopathic wives
Would thrash them within inches of their lives!

ooooooooooooo, oooooooo, ooooooooooo, ooooooooo, ooooooooo, ooooooooo, oooo.

We don't need no education
We don’t need no thought control
No dark sarcasm in the classroom
Teachers leave them kids alone
Hey! Teacher! Leave them kids alone!
All in all it's just another brick in the wall.
All in all you're just another brick in the wall.

(A bunch of kids singing) We don't need no education
We don’t need no thought control
No dark sarcasm in the classroom
Teachers leave them kids alone
Hey! Teacher! Leave us kids alone!
All in all it's just another brick in the wall.
All in all you're just another brick in the wall.

Spoken:
"Wrong, Guess again!
Wrong, Guess again!
If you don't eat yer meat, you can't have any pudding.
How can you have any pudding if you don't eat yer meat?
You! Yes, you behind the bikesheds, stand still laddie!"

[Sound of many TV's coming on, all on different channels]
"The Bulls are already out there"
Pink: "Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrgh!"
"This Roman Meal bakery thought you'd like to know."

(A bunch of kids singing) We don't need no education
We don’t need no thought control
No dark sarcasm in the classroom
Teachers leave them kids alone
Hey! Teacher! Leave us kids alone!
All in all it's just another brick in the wall.
All in all you're just another brick in the wall.

To whoever-
I wasn't bashing blacks. I was bashing the liberal/left that can't talk about urban violence in any truthful manner. The violence was out of control at the halloween I went too. It's a continuation of the stupid violence that's made homicide the number 1 killer of black males 16-34 years old. Talking about it means getting out of your comfort zone, something white leftists talk about but in reality will never sway from the PC script.

in solidarity?
by you're right!
An utter police lockdown of a whole neighborhood to prevent what was once a spontaneous celebration of, by, and for the people, is indeed way "out of [my] comfort zone"! So, kudos for your observational powers, which I in turn seem to be lacking. Can you tell us again just why you like all those heavily-armed, lightly-accountable cops around?

Oh..... you want to talk about the terrible toll violence takes on young African-American men? How about we start with the role of.... that's right.... police brutality.

Please-- we dumb, stupid lefties are all ears.
