Earthquake In Santa Cruz, Centered Around San Jose, Milpitas 10/30/07
At approximately 8:08 p.m., a mild earthquake rumbled Santa Cruz County. It seemed to last about 10-20 seconds, at maximum, but it was definitely obvious that it was an earthquake.
As details become available, I will post more. I felt this from mid-county and apparently the heart of the quake was in Milpitas/San Jose.

The earthquake shook us on the UC Santa Cruz campus. Some of us got under desks, but we did not evacuate the building.
Good wake up for Halloween.
I Live in Felton and I felt the tremor. It lasted about 15 to 20 seconds, I felt it very strong.
Felt in in Tracy, Ca. too.
Must have rode up the fault line we felt it here in Emerville...very strong shake..at least 5 seconds.
My dog and I felt the earthquake very strongly in Novato. Seemed to go on for several minutes. Could not call out on my telephone or cell phone. Have not heard of any damage so far.
At or around 8:10 I was sitting at my desk working away and felt a mild wave come through. I am located in Turlock, approx 10 miles south of Modesto and 70 miles east of San Jose. Everyone in the neighborhood felt the earthquake also. Nice to see that a mild earthquake can cause all our phone lines to be busy...can't imagine what would happen if we had a real emergency.
felt in modesto,ca
We felt it in Salinas, CA for the entire duration. Pictures and blinds swayed. Nothing fell.
i felt the earthquake my house shaked
It thought it was fairly strong and seemed to last at least 15-20 seconds if not longer. Everything was rolling and swaying.
yup yup......................
I felt my living room feel like the floor was rolling then suddenly swaying. My pet parrot was stopped playing with his toys as soon as it happend. He started cooing a in a strange manner that was abnormal for him. After all was said and done, he remained sitting on his cage door mad as can be. I couldn't even pick him up to put him to bed for the night. Pretty weird!
around 8:10 pm I felt things shaking in my room, books fell and so on. it seemed way longer than any tremor I have felt before. it was unerving!! I checked on my kids and tried to calm down.

I'm in Fresno and I was sitting on the couch and it felt like it started shaking back and forth. I saw that my 3 yr old was on the floor so I knew she wasn't doing it...once I saw my light over the sink swaying I knew what it was.
felt it in sebastopol
My arm chair I was sitting in seem to vibrate on its own for about 15 to 20 seconds. It just kept on going and going without end, then suddenly just stopped. Strongest one I have felt since I live in CA for almost 30 years.
my fiance and i had just tuned in for ncis and where sitting across from thetv when it felt like the couch was vibrating and the tv looked like it was swaying accrossed the room. our cat freaked out and started howling which ive never heard her do and then it was over with.
At about 8:08 p.m. this evening, we felt a two-jolt
earthquake in North Oakland, and friends felt it in
Berkeley. I have heard from friends in Livermore and
Pleasanton that they felt it as well. I would guess it
to be on the Hayward fault, centered somewhere near
San Jose. We experienced no damage nor injuries hear
in San Jose. Channel 7 news announced that it was
a 5.6 level quake.
I felt it in Salinas, California!
it was a pretty good one, I wasnt sure at first because I have three cats that like to fight under my bed so when that started shakeing I didnt think to much about it. then the closet doors started shakeing and I knew then it was a quake. It didnt seem like a 5.6 but it sure lasted pretty long. I hope everyone who reads this and their familys are ok...godbless

I live about 3 miles outside of Hughson, and I didn't feel a thing. But a friend in town did. And if someone in Sonora did, I guess I must have just not been paying attention.

i was on the bed with my girldfriend in my third floor apartment (which is built on the top of a huge hill) last night. the whole place started shaking back and forth, like a slow sway getting more intense. after a few seconds i realized it was an earthquake and not the upstairs neighbors and grabbed my girlfriend's hand and got under a doorway. once we were standing up i couldn't feel it anymore. still....it was pretty damn scary. and then everything just went back to normal...like nothing even happened.strange.
I was walking up the stairs and i felt my body rumbling. it was a scary 10 seconds but at the same time it was kind a cool/weird feeling.
This is just a preview of what global warming is going to bring. We can thank George Bush for these earthquakes because he did not sign the Kyoto Protocol!
