Confronting “Islamo Fascist Awareness Week”
On October 25 World Can’t Wait, Radical Women, and other groups went to UC Berkeley to confront The Republican Club and other reactionary groups for the hateful massage and imperialist agenda that they promote under the pretext of “Ismalo Fascist Awareness Week”.
As part of their effort to criminalize all Muslim and pave the way and justify attacks against the Arab world, the Republican Club organized a reading of statements by groups such as Hamas and Hisbala against Americans and Israelis. They did succeed; however, they were shut down by people standing by, and dispersed after 20 minutes.

PLEASE! What a piece of crap!
You had the support of all of 12 people. Woo Hoo.
Look, your intentions are good. But Horowitz has a point - ALL Islamisist regimes treat women like shit, kill gays, and don't allow non-Muslim religions to exist. You simply cannot deny this.
Islam is a religion. IslamISM is a death-cult that will kill us if given the chance. Don't try to hide behind PC crap when our survival is at stake.

So why do conservatives so strongly defend our political and economic alliances with Saudi Arabia for the past decades, which practices the most extreme form of oppression of women, practices beheadings of political dissidents (as a monarchy), and holds many foreign workers essentially as slaves. Horowitz et al. never cared about supporting international feminist movements.
Ahmad, instead of wasting your time (and ours) on this website tailing every movement that does not agree with your limited and superficial political ideology, why don’t you go and organize for your “causes” on websites where people are ignorant as you are?
More then just “12” people joined us exposing those fascist for what they are, imperialists and anti-women. If you care so much about the treatment of women why not stop the billions of dollars that your government gives to those regimes? Why not protest the new Sharia laws that the new “democratic” Iraqi government enforce? Of course not, because the whole argument is constructed around your “survival”.
The survival of whom, Zombie? Of blood sucking people like you who fail to recognize that you are living on the exploitation of millions of people, or the survival of those millions who are oppressed by your government(or other government supported by your imperialist government), and through their exploitation you “survive”.
Stupid zombie, you don’t even deserve this respond (and stop pretending to be an Arab).

I have no idea who or what "zombie" is.
I re-iterate what I waid. You will not face the reality of Islamo-fascism. You simply don't want to confront it.
That's your problem. I have seen Islamism and I choose to reject, confront, resist, and destroy it, any way I can.
You have your own priorities.
Your condemnation of me tells me all I need to know about your inability or unwillingness to see what is poised to destroy you and your liberal dreams of multiculturalism.
The Saracens don't care about your "concern" or interest in them or their religion.
You will submit. Or die.
Read the Koran.

fuck religion, and fuck conservative assholes.
Oh, so you are the victim now, ah, “Ahmad”? Can’t deal with some simple history or the development of Islamic fundamentalist as connected to your racist and imperialist government and you immediately revert to some victim mentality (are you a Zionist as well?)?
I actually read the Korean, Bible, and the New Testament who are all reactionary and oppressive scrip, I do not, however, suggest that we choose between your imperialist government oppressing and invading third world countries and Islamic Fundamentalists. I would definitely not support Horowitz propaganda that only prepares the ground for another evasion of another country (Iran).
Do I need to explain everything to you? A brainwashed-zombie is someone who denies reality only to enforce or negate other peoples fight for a better world (as you always do on this website). As I suggested before, take your “knowledge” that you so happy to vomit all over this website and go argue with other superficial people who ignore history and reality and than mumble some lines about “totalitarianism” when confronted with the truth.
I’m not a liberal, zombie, and people like you who do not confront their fascist government, and ignorantly justify attacks against third world countries are the only one that are destroying my multicultural dreams.

I could find nothing in the "Peace not Prejudice" rally that remotely looked like peace or lack of prejudice. It was anti-Christian and "tolerant" or extremist regimes.
In fact, I heard people wearing those green shirts say anti-Jewish, anti-Christian, and anti-Muslim comments. What was that about?
It is the height of Islamophobia to support Militant Islam as the people most oppressed by Militant Islam are Muslims.
Fight Islamophobia, end Militant Islam!

Has it even occurred to you that some people support the Peace Not Prejudice campaign, because of their Christian beliefs? Jesus Christ is referred to as the Prince of Peace. In fact, sponsors of the Peace Not Prejudice campaign include the Graduate Theological Union and the Inter-Varsity Cal Christian Fellowship.
zombie is this guy in Berkeley who always attends antiwar events and takes nostril shots of participants (such as here where he is analyzing the teeth of Cindy Sheehan http://www.zombietime.com/beach_impeach_iv/ )
This David Horowitz character really is responsible for hatemongering, and groups like Peace not Prejudice have arisen as a response to this crisis of misinfo in the public university system..
Just a few weeks ago author Norman Finkelstein spoke at DePaul University in Chicago, where he was fired for critically questioning the Israeli policies against the Palestinian people..
Horowitz himself had applied pressure to officials that led to the firing of Finkelstein, calling him a "self hating Jew" because Finkelstein doesn't support the apartheid and genocide carried out by the Israeli government. Perhaps a bit of shame is a natural feeling when witnessing one's people acting out in such a racist manner. However, Norman Finkelstein is taking appropriate actions to educate people about the serious policy mistakes that Israel is making by oppressing Palestinians, and for thess actions he shows his character as a decent human being..
Maybe a German who critically questioned the wisdom and ethics of supporting Hitler's policies of Nazi concentration camps prior to WW2 would be labeled a "self hating German" by modern day ZioNazis like Horowitz??
Finkelstein is correct in identifying the policies of Israeli apartheid against occupied Palestinians and the ongoing U.S. military occupation of Iraq as the leading causes for modern day anti-Americanism and anti-Semitism in the Muslim political realm. The oppressive policies as carried out by the U.S./Israeli military fuel resentment throughout the Muslim region, thus leading to the extreme actions taken by popular resistance movements like Hamas, Hezbollah, Mahdi Army, Al-Queda, etc..
When looking at Iran's recent popular support for the hardliners under Pres. Ahmadinijad, the further that U.S. policymakers (ie., GW bush regime) antagonize people about Iran's uranium enrichment attempts, the more popular Ahmadinijad and fellow religious hardliners will become. As in the U.S. military funding support of Saddam under Reagan (special envoy D. Rumsfeld) against Iran's Ayatollah Khomeini in the mid '80's, we are also bearing responsibility today for provoking the Iranian people to support the extreme conservative religious views of Pres. Ahmadinijad..
Would encourage everyone to read David Barsamian's book "Targeting Iran" to get some additional background info on the GW bush regime's plans to invade and attack the sovereign nation of Iran..
Review;
"Iran and the United States are on a collision course. David Barsamian presents the perspectives of three experts on Iran who discuss the 1953 CIA coup and the rise of the Islamic regime; Iran’s internal dynamics and competing forces; relations with Iraq and Afghanistan; and the consequences of U.S. policy"

E. sounds like he needs anger management. Also, I think it's lame to throw the word fascist around willy nilly. It's lame when Horowitz does it and it's also lame when self-righteous jerks like E. do it.
I'm no fan of Horowitz, but only a goddamn fool would say extremist Islam is not a serious problem around the world. The countries of the Middle East will only advance when their patriarchal, clerical regimes are pushed out and women can participate in those societies equally and this horrible cult of death in the name of religion is put aside.
It's true the U.S. does business with the Saudis and overlooks their horrible human rights record. They need to be called on it to. But that doesn't take away from the fact that its the Wahhabis and Jihadis who are doing the oppressing, not the Americans. There aren't any U.S. soldiers enforcing Sharia law. True the U.S. position is unhelpful to democracy there, but the Americans could withdraw support tomorrow and the Wahabbis would still be enforcing misogynist laws.
The best way to handle a Horowitz is to challenge him by saying look you and I agree that religious extremism is horrible, but so is stereotyping all Arabs as bomb wielding crazies. Say, "I could even work with you Horowitz to fight religious extremism if you meet me halfway and help fight anti-arab prejudice." That response would completely disarm him and put him on the defensive immediately. It would be 10 times more effective than overheated rehashed lefty rhetoric like we've seen from E. Horowitz can rightfully dismiss guys like him as kooks, but he can't dismiss a reasonable heart felt challenge.

“But he can't dismiss a reasonable heart felt challenge.”
Of course he won’t. I mean, Horowitz, who said that Black people owe debt to whites for freeing them from slavery, who wrote a book about the “hundred most dangerous professors”, and have been pushing a movement of college students to snitch and tape their “radical” professors, or any professor that belong to a department that challenge the official Amerikkkan party line would be just change his ideas in second confronted with your “heart challenge” ( I’m sure after talking to you he would stop supporting every atrocity committed by Israel)..
Furthermore, while we at it, we should propose the same thing to Ann Coulter, another prominent speaker who is part of “Islamo Fascist Awareness Week”, a women who said that America should invade the Arab world, Kill their leaders, and convert all Arab to Christianity. Coulter personal fantasy is that women lose the right to vote. How about Rick Santorum (another person who spoke on behalf of and is part of IFAW) he will definitely be impressed with your proposition. So what if had compared between homosexuality and bigamy and incest, he, just like Horowitz and Coulter, would just be speechless when your proposition comes along. I propose to go further and announce “hug a Fascist-conservative day”, I mean, if we only give those people some love, they stop promoting all their reactionary ideology.
Not only your government won’t stop supporting reactionary regime, it has been instrumental in putting them into power, as a way to stop progressive and secular regimes emerging in the Arab world. Your government constructed a coup against Mosadek, an Iranian democratic elected president and when Washington chosen dictator (the Shaha) failed to control his people, your government assisted the Islamic forces take over by helping them fight leftist movements in Iran who were fighting for state power. In Iraq your government helped Sadam take over by providing him with lists of Communists, and in Afghanistan Washington aided the Mogahdin against the Russian. Your government has been supporting Saudi-Arabia for years since that regime provide them with cheep oil, and have used Israel to attack secular presidents and movements in Arab Countries. If it wasn’t for Israel brutal occupation of Lebanon the Hisbala would not come about, and the Hamas initiated by Israel to fight the secular PLO would also not emerge.
To suggest that Arabs are incapable of organizing Secular and democratic movements is not only racist and Eurocentric, but does not stand in the face of history.
I admit, knowing all this information makes me very angry (and dealing with people like you who ignore it). At least I’m not is naïve who can’t see oppression when the people representing fascism say it blankly. If I need an anger management class you definitely need a couple of history classes combined with reading of the Patriot Act, the Torture Bill, and some of Horowits, Coulter, and Santorum writings. Maybe you just need a hug.

Wow, you totally missed the point. I was by no means implying Horowitz would take anyone up on the offer. Of course not. I said it could be a way of embarrassing him and pointing out his hypocrisy.
As for Coulter and the rest, they're basically just clowns saying provocative things to sell books. And their plan to generate buzz has obviously worked on you because instead of ignoring their self serving mumbo jumbo, you've actually let yourself get worked up over it.
The US, (which I'm assuming you don't mind as much as you let on cause you obviously chose to come live here), has hitched its wagon to corrupt tyrants for years. My answer to that is yeah and? all the stuff you mentioned I already know. The US could pull out its support and the tyrants would still be there. You're implying racism where there is none. If I'd actually said Arabs aren't capable of democracy, that would be racist. But, since I never said that, I won't waste anymore time on it.
The biggest impediment to Arab democracy is its own leadership. Democratic movement and pro-women's rights groups raise their heads and they're beat down by corrupt repressive governments. Those governments would do that with or without the Americans.
Iran's stab at democracy was put down with US support, but the Shah and his supporters had to be there to take power. The revolution in the 1970s was led by clerical fanatics. Why wasn't there a strong pro-democracy force there to counter them? Can't blame that entirely on America. What about their own failure to organize like the Islamists did? The religious nuts were suppressed by the Shah to, why did they win and not the democrats?
Now I'd like to see the US withdraw its support for these regimes, but that would only be a start. The people of the region would have to start building democracy from the ground up till it got too big to put down, then they'd have to fight the backward forces of religious extremism as well.
Something tells me if you were there, you'd be doing much the same thing you're doing here. You'd froth at the mouth and put out anti-American rants, while doing nothing to organize a real political alternative. You wouldn't confront the religious nuts, or the corrupt rulers of those countries. You'd be completely useless.
At least I put out a solid proposal to challenge Horowitz that doesn't completely play into his hands and that challenges him with something way more constructive then overheated slogans and hot air.
