Come share a table with CodePINKers at the AWESOME Women of Color Resource Center's 9th Annual Sisters of Fire Awards.
With former Sister of Fire recipient Angela Davis as guest emcee, three spectacular women will be honored and two groundbreaking organizations for their accomplishments in IGNITING change, INSPIRING communities, and TRANSFORMING lives.
This year's honorees are: Karen Bass, California State Assemblywoman; Ishle Yi Park, Poet/Spoken Word Artist; Linda Tillery, Musician/Cultural Historian; California Latinas for Reproductive Justice; and Service Women's Action Network (SWAN).
The program will also include performances by Jazz-Fusion ensemble Infinite Kin, Spoken Word by Ishle Park and performances by other Bay Area artists - plus a scrumptious buffet!
This year's celebration is especially significant because it comes at a time of transition for WCRC. Linda Burnham, WCRC's co-founder and executive director, will be moving on to new adventures and the organization will be welcoming a new generation of leadership. Your support at this juncture in WCRC's development is more appreciated than ever.
Ticket prices are $75 - $50, more if you can, less if you can’t – whatever you can afford to donate to help WCRC continue their awesome and vital work. Call 510-524-2776 to reserve your place at our CodePINK table!
The event will take place 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. at the historic Scottish Rite Center, 1547 Lakeside Dr, across from Lake Merritt in Oakland, California.
Eli PaintedCrow, also a CodePINK womon, will be receiving the award for SWAN. Let’s come out and support Eli as well!
