NAOMI WOLF: “The End of America: Letter of Warning to a Young Patriot: A Citizen’s Call to Action”
in conversation with Daniel Ellsberg, Lakshmi Chaudhry, and Peter Laufer

Naomi Wolf, celebrated feminist, social critic and political activist, is the author of “The Beauty Myth” (deemed by The New York Times one of the most important books of the century), “Fire With Fire: The New Female Power and Promiscuities: The Secret Struggle for Womanhood.” Ms. Wolf has also written for The New Republic and The Wall Street Journal.

Daniel Ellsberg is a former American military analyst employed by the RAND corporation who precipitated a national uproar in 1971 when he released the Pentagon Papers, a top-secret Pentagon study of government decision-making during the Vietnam War, to the New York Times and other newspapers. He is currently an avid anti-war activist.

Lakshmi Chaudhry is a Puffin Writing Fellow at the Nation Institute, and contributing writer at the Nation magazine. She is also a senior editor-at-large at In These Times, and co-author of The Five Biggest Lies Bush Told Us About Iraq and Start Making Sense. She has written for Mother Jones, The Village Voice, Bitch, Ms. Magazine, and other progressive publications.

Peter Laufer, host of KPFA’s Sunday show, has won major awards for his reporting. He is the author of numerous books including “Mission Rejected,” “Wetback Nation,” and “Inside Talk Radio.” He is also works in documentary films and television.

"Naomi Wolf sounds the alarm for all American patriots. We must come together as a nation and recommit ourselves to the fundamental American idea that no president, whether Democrat or Republican, will ever be given unchecked power.”
—Wes Boyd, co-founder, MoveOn.org

“Naomi Wolf’s End of America is a vivid, urgent, mandatory wake-up call that addresses
momentous issues of tyranny, democracy, and survival.
—Blanche Wiesen Cook, author of three-volume Eleanor Roosevelt

“The framers of our Constitution fully understood that it can happen here. Patriots like Madison, Paine, and Franklin would certainly applaud Naomi Wolf and recognize her as a sister in their struggle.” —Mark Crispin Miller

“You will be shocked and disturbed by this book. Most Americans reject outright any comparison of post 9/11 America with the fascism and totalitarianism of Nazi Germany or Pinochet’s Chile. Sadly, the parallels and similarities, what Wolf calls ‘the echoes’ between those societies and America today, are all too compelling.”
—Michael Ratner, Center for Constitutional Rights
