Rising Tide Launches False Solutions Campaign
With the increasing awareness and hype about climate chaos in the past 2 years, people are trying to cash in. Convergences for Climate Action 2008

Mass Arrests of Indigenous and Environmental Activists in Aoteatoa (NZ)
A story of serious government repression in Aotearoa (New Zealand). The media there is reporting that activists in the Tino Rangatiratanga, peace and environmental movement as well as organizers from the non-violent direct action campaign to stop coal mining at Happy Valley on Aotearoa’s southern island are among the arrestees as well. Rising Tide UK: 23 actions against the "Oil" Bank of Scotland and counting
On Monday across the UK, from Edinburgh to Cornwall, from blockades to "invisible theatre", the "Oil" (ahem, Royal) Bank of Scotland felt the sting - 25 actions took place against a company that publicly promotes itself as "The Oil & Gas Bank". BP Executive Pied as Europe’s Largest Biofuels Event Disrupted
A group of 15 climate change activists from protest group Food Not Fuel entered the BioFuel Expo & Conference taking place at the Newark Showground and took over the keynote speech. Oliver Mace, CEO of BP Fuels, the lead sponsors of the event received a cream pie in the face. Anti-Oppression Work in Rising Tide
We in rising tide have always said that "anti-oppression" is at the core of our organizing, and in the forever ongoing process of self-reflection and growth we are working on figuring out what exactly that means for us. Clearly all oppressions are connected, the killing of the planet is directly tied to the oppression of most people, and all of us with privilege are part of the problem and need to deal with that. Want to get involved with Rising Tide?
Start a Local Group or Join an Existing Project
Local groups and local contacts are the heart of RTNA. While RTNA as a whole works to coordinate and build a continental direct action movement for climate justice, it really comes down to local groups taking action. Whether it’s organizing a community garden or bike shop, blockading a gas station, or fighting a new coal plant, it’s up to all of us taking action in our own communities to bring down the fossil fuel juggernaut.
If you’re an individual wanting to join the RTNA network, a great way to start is by becoming a local contact helping out with one of our existing projects. Some of these are just 1 or 2 people cranking out literature and resources, while others are major continent-wide projects with many activists working together. Some are focused on a campaign or education related to a particular climate change issue, others on movement building, and others just keep Rising Tide North America’s network functioning. Still others are just ideas that one or more people have had, which need some extra energy to bring them to life.
