Another World Is Possible! Mass Mobilization and Critical Mass to Protest the IMF! (10/19)
On Friday, October 19, the International Monetary Fundy (IMF) is convening its biannual meeting in Washington, DC. Globalize This! SF is calling upon all people of conscience to converge at Market and 2nd Street in San Francisco's Financial District from 4:00 pm on to protest the IMF's dehumanizing, undemocratic and destructive policies.
The pro-corporate, neoliberal agenda of the IMF is not the only way. We denounce the following IMF practices, often required as conditions for debt relief:
1. Austerity measures to cut spending on education, healthcare and the like.
2. Focusing "development" on export industries and resource extraction.
3. Privatizing and deregulating public resources, from water to rainforests to DNA.
4. Privileging transnational corporations interested in short-terms gains over long-term investment and domestic ownership.
5. Operating in a non-transparent and unaccountable fashion which threatens national sovereignty and democracy.
6. Failing in protect the environment and promote and collective rights of people at the bottom and at the margins.
7. Promoting policies which exponentially increase domestic and global wealth gaps.
We stand in solidarity with all people who have been left behind, displaced or denied the right to exist by the IMF.

There is no reason to go all the way to SF to protest the IMF and other capitalist infrastructures, when we can do it in our own back yard.
UP THE CREEK!
UP THE CREEK!
What better place to protest the affects of globalization and inhumane practices than in a place-- such as Walnut Creek-- that blindly endorses it??
Bring your bicycle, your sound system, and your bad self to Walnut Creek BART at 6pm and ride with us on this momentous occasion!
