The San Diego Indymedia website has been down since late August because of tech problems, but a temporary newswire dedicated to San Diego related content has been created on Indybay. (woohoo! Indybay is awesome!) SDIMC volunteers are hoping to unveil a new website with a different content management system, drupal, sometime in late October or November.
The San Diego Indymedia website has been down since late August because of tech problems that we cannot immediately fix. After exploring the options, SDIMC volunteers decided to work on remaking the server from scratch by installing new system software and a new open source content management system, drupal, using a nonhierarchical, skill-share oriented process.

In the interim, the San Francisco Bay Area Independent Media Center has very kindly offered to host a dedicated San Diego newswire (, which SDIMC volunteers will participate in editing. Features related to stories on that newswire will appear at (but it might be a few days before that address starts working again). Archives of previous content posted to San Diego Indymedia (our old website) will be available as a link from the website shortly.

We hope to have a new bare-bones SDIMC website with newswire operating in late October or November, with upgrades largely completed by the end of the year (fingers crossed). Check out for updates on progress.
