Burmese Community Protests Outside of Chinese Consulate
Hundreds of Burmese activists and supporters protested outside of the Chinese Consulate in San Francisco Friday, to confront the governments support of military oppressions in Myanmar.
Demonstrators rallied with chants "China's policy - Burma's misery!" and "China's gain - Burma's pain!"
Nyunt Than, President of Burmese American Democratic Alliance (BADA) said the Chinese government should use its' influence to stop the killings in Burma. Others called for a boycott of the 2008 Olympics scheduled to be held in Beijing.
Bay Area communities took part in the peaceful protest including members of Tibeten, Vietnamese, and Thai communities, and Christian and Muslim groups as well.
