Ensure, not Insure. Great event though.
Until such time as really non-polluting energy technology has been developed that can provide safely for a high level of energy consumption for all the world's people, the energy consumption -- and particularly the fossil-fuel consumption -- of the U.S. must be cut radically, even if it means that the per-capita level of material consumption in the U.S. is reduced to only two or three times the world average. ;-) (Poor US-Americans! U.S. workers might then have to actually engage in serious class struggle to maintain a decent standard of living! Won't you feel sorry for them?)

People outside the U.S. can and should do everything they can to stop the flow of fossil fuels into the U.S.. But a big part of the job falls on people inside the U.S..

One thing Terraists (Earth defenders) inside the U.S. could do would be to take Direct Action against the persons (capitalists, politicians, managerial personnel) responsible for mountain-top removal coal mining! This not only produces the most CO2-intensive energy source there is but also causes enormous destruction to the earth and its people, animals, and plants -- even before any of the coal is burned!

Earth First! had (has?) the slogan, "No Compromise in Defense of Mother Earth!" But they turned around and adopted a policy not only against actual violence but against property destruction! In other words, "Only Two Major Compromises in Defense of Mother Earth?" The Earth Liberation Front has rejected one of those compromises, which is a step in the right direction.
