Hillary Clinton Campaign Appearance in Oakland, 9/30/07: cellphone pix from outside event

by dave id
Hillary Clinton had a rally in downtown Oakland today, just a block from where Obama did back in March of this year. Several city streets were blocked off for her appearance at Clay and 14th. The crowd was probably about the same size as Obama's, maybe a little smaller -- perhaps around 10,000 people. As a sidenote, Obama has set up his California campaign headquarters in Oakland and had a kick-off celebration for that earlier in the day.

Lines several blocks long to get in. As Obama did, people have to submit their contact info to gain access and hear Clinton speak.

Keeping things "on message." Not surprising as she just declared in a Democratic debate last week at Dartmouth that she cannot guarantee US troops will be out of Iraq by the end of her first term in 2013 (Obama and Edwards also said the same thing).

She had some really creepy buttons. One read, "Victory Is The Only Option." Is that victory for her campaign or the United States' Global War of Terror. This button has Uncle Sam, an eagle, and some kind of female "justice" on it.
