Date:
Sunday, October 21, 2007
Time:
11:30 AM - 12:30 PM
Event Type:
Party/Street Party
Organizer/Author:
Janan Apaydin

at Jack London Square in Oakland, CA

The Parade will feature the colorful flags of the 193 member nations, carried by students and community participants.

Oakland City Councilmember Nancy Nadel, Honorary Co-Chair, will welcome the public. Professor Norman Bowen will speak about UN goals and programs. In recognition and celebration of our diverse world community, the flags of member nations will be identified and the UN flag will be raised.

Come help us raise the UN flag to honor and support the role of the United Nations as an international forum for dialogue and conflict resolution as an alternative to war, and its important work of building peace and security through improving the quality of life for all human beings.

The UN Flag has flown in Oakland for many years. This celebration has been a tradition for over 40 years.
