An immigrant rights group based in Minnesota has sued ICE, the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, over its raid last year on a meatpacking plant owned by Swift and Company in Worthington, Minnesota.

On Dec. 12 federal agents raided Swift plants across six states. More than 1,200 undocumented workers were arrested overall, including more than 200 workers in Worthington.

The lawsuit claims that federal agents "insulted, abused, and humiliated the plaintiffs on account of their race." The suit says female Latino workers were ordered to disrobe in front of federal agents during the raid while white workers were allowed to move about the plant freely.

  • Gloria Contreras-Edin, executive director of Centro Legal, the immigrant rights group that filed the lawsuit. Centro Legal is a non-profit law firm that provides legal services to low income Latinos in the area of immigration law and family law.

by Neither Anglo, African nor Latino slavery!
Really, now this immigrants right for shit jobs needs to end. Is that what we're all coming to, who has the right to work at the shittiest, most dangerous and ecologically damaging job??

Stop being slaves, you're not a bunch of workhorses! Isn't there anything better out there? Or do people resign themselves to slavery for the almighty dollar? Either go home and overthrow your corrupt government in Mexcio, or stay here and help us overthrow our corrupt government here in the U.S. Just quit these murderous shitty meatpacking jobs and find some other way to get food and shelter, por favor!!

Far as i'm concerned, we could shut down this whole system of industrial meat packing and everyone find some land and raise their own backyard chickens..

We need to collectively shut down these meatpacking factories, not the ICE. That's where the only difference is..
We are 100% volunteer and depend on your participation to sustain our efforts!
