After deliberating for 11 hours over two days, a federal court jury has found Eric McDavid guilty of conspiring to blow up government and other facilities as part of an eco-terror plot.

The verdict came late Thursday afternoon following a trial that relied heavily on the testimony of an undercover FBI informant who was known to jurors only as "Anna" and who presented evidence of conversations McDavid and two companions had about blowing up the Nimbus Dam, a U.S. Forest Service facility in Placerville and other targets.

Two of McDavid's co-conspirators accepted plea deals from the government and testified in the case. McDavid's lawyer argued that he was a victim of entrapment by "Anna" because of the money and help she provided the conspirators.

He could face five to 20 years in prison.
by now.
Perhaps "Anna" can next turn her attention towards whoever's been blowing up abortion clinics in the US for the last 30-some-odd years.

She should start by picking a church or two and making some "friends." Of course, such an idea presumes the FBI is interested in conspiracies to bomb things (you know, conspiracies like they make in fundamentalist Christian churches, see Soldiers in the Army of God for documentary evidence of conspiracies to commit felonies by means of explosive devices, firearms, and oh so much more...) as opposed to just slacking towards retirement by framing naive kids and making a "Green Scare" out of them, just to show the FBI can go back to that type of thing, now that Bushco got rid of post-COINTELPRO controls on the secret police.

But, hey! why wait for the Feds? when you can now freelance your domestic spying gigs, and parlay them into incredible job offertunities!

By the by... it's probably not a very good idea to include other leftist formations in one's target lists, if one suspects there's even a remote chance that one might be making broad-based appeals for defense funds later.

Last and certainly not least, many thanks for the extensively-detailed reporting on this case at this website. A shining example of what this medium can be and do... and it speaks very well of the defense committee's commitment and high level of functionality. Truly well done, folks...
by safe now.
At a news conference, Scott and Drew Parenti, the special agent in charge of the FBI in Sacramento, had glowing words for "Anna's" performance.

"Her conduct while undercover, as well as her testimony on the stand during this trial, were nothing short of remarkable," Scott said.

The jurors were not as impressed.

"Initially, I saw her as credible, but eventually her bias became apparent," one juror said, expressing the feelings of most of his fellow jurors. "We did feel a lot of times she was pushing."

ANNA

First off, Jeff Ketting and myself were both contacted by Eric's attorney about testifying in the case. We were never called, and I really do not understand why, the only witness the defense ended up calling were character witness's.
This has left me very upset and puzzled, after conferring with a local attorney who was familiar with the case it was his opinion that our testimony would have been very important in the defense of Eric. Now Eric is looking at spending the next 5 to 20 years of his life incarcerated.

NOW FOR THE OAS PROTEST

Anna was suspicious from the minute she arrived at St. Maurice on the Wed. before the events, not only by me but by almost all of the organizers. So much so that we called a meeting on Thursday night at Lester's dinner to talk about how we would deal with her. She came in like a bull in a china shop, it was so obvious that she was not kosher and a FEDERAL PIG, she should have had FBI tattooed on her forehead. Between asking a lot of very suspicious questions; like who is coming, how many are coming and what are you plaining to do. This coming from someone who had just walked into the group two days before the start of the actions and the fact that nobody had ever knew or seen her before . Too her bogus story on who she was and were she came from and why, none of it looked or sounded real, so we (most of us) decided to watched her. Not to mention that on the day before the meeting I received a phone call from one of the organizers asking if we had street medics, we had only one at the time, Mary-Joe. And here she was the very next day all deseed up like a street medic. That "the phones are taped" thing.

Now we all know what she did at the events, it's what we did not do at the events that I question. We also now know from the trail testimony that Eric was in Fort Lauderdale for the OAS. The Question is should we have confronted ANNA here, and would that have prevented Eric from facing up to twenty years.

Here are my feelings on that.

WHEN A PERSON COMES INTO AN ACTION FROM OUT OF NO-WERE AND THAT PERSON TRIES TO CHANGE THE DIRECTION OF THAT EVENT BEYOND THE PLAINS OF THE ORGANIZERS OF THAT EVENT AND DO IT IN SUCH A WAY THAT THE EVENT AND THE PARTICIPANT OF THAT EVENT ARE PUT IN DANGER THEN THAT PERSON SHOULD BE CONFRONTED AND OUTED IF NECESSARY.

The next question's are;
Is this possible to do?
Is this the right thing to do?
And how do we do this with out it becoming a witch hunt?

Many of us who were at the sit-in that ANNA orchestrated and directed did a great job on defusing the potently dangerous situation. A sit in in front of 40 riot ready cops at a protest that had no civil disobedience plained could have lead to an FTAA type end result instead of the peaceful conclusion that did occur. This only happened because of us. However their where those on the street that disagreed and supported Anna'a action and tried to prevent us from further actions on ANNA.

I have agonized over Anna since the first day and yesterdays news very distressful, I do not think that she will go away for a long time in my own personal thoughts, but this is part of what we do. I just hope next time we will be more prepaired and willing to act.
