Santa Clara police report that a police officer who was unnamed but referred to using a masculine possessive adjective was assaulted by an attack that may or may not have been physical or may or may not have been a severe tongue-lashing that caused injuries that were not life-threatening by an unidentified suspect whose tongue may or may not have been unarmed and caused the officer to fire a masculine possessive adjective gun and injure someone or possibly no one other than himself.

A Santa Clara police officer sustained injuries after an early morning traffic stop today escalated into an assault.
The police officer, whose name was not released, stopped a suspicious black pickup truck near Winchester Boulevard and Newhall Street at about 2:20 a.m.
Sgt. Kurt Clarke declined to release details about the encounter, saying it's still under investigation and police are looking for suspects as well as the vehicle.
He would not say whether the assault was a physical fight or if weapons were used against the officer, whose injuries were not life-threatening.
The officer did, however, fire his gun, but Clarke would not say whether anyone was injured.
Anyone with information about the suspects or the pickup truck is asked to call 408-615-4800.
