this year fleet week includes a multi-war plane extravaganza. not only that, vip seats at marina green go for $150! wealth over health rules this city. and when you go to the website above, don't miss the link to join the navy-air shows are one of the best recruiting tools. this show is not to support our troops; it is to perpetuate and feed the war machine this administration has put in place for generations to come. that is far more important than the health and safety of the residents of san francisco.

...one of the veterans interviewed in this video says how horrible it is to see little kids get so excited to see the planes. Pollution, PTSD, and much more are horrific consequences of the fly-overs, but when you think of what we are teaching children to stare in awe at with these disgusting displays...well, it makes a granny want to cry.

Why is it bad for a child to enjoy jet fighters? What, Are worried that would make them too "aggressive" (i.e. male)? We'll if that bothers you, you might as well just chop their balls off already, we've managed to castrate virtually everything else about being a man in this country, why not do that? Seems were already pathetic geldings.

Little boys like big machines that make a lot of noise, go fast, and make things go boom, its in their nature. Deal with it.
It is a shame that this notice was not posted Sunday night as the Board agenda is certainly available by then. Hopefully, enough people will see it to call the entire Board of Supervisors and leave a quick message in support of Board Item 30 at http://www.sfgov.org/site/uploadedfiles/bdsupvrs/bosagendas/materials/070931.pdf
It is listed as File No 070931 on the Board Agenda which is available by Sunday night, if not sooner, at http://www.sfgov.org/site/bdsupvrs_page.asp?id=68110
Three other supervisors finally got on Board (where were all of them all these years as this has been going on since 1980?) namely Mirkarimi, Sandoval and Ammiano. Even if it does pass (and if it does, it will be a squeaker and Nazi Newsom will veto it), the Blue Death flights will not stop and it should be on the ballot in November 2008 with the races for the Board of Supervisors, which have many open positions, including Daly and Ammiano's positions. Since we now have 4 supervisors on board, they can simply put it on the November 2008 ballot, and the wording on the ballot should be exactly as it is now.
EVEN IF YOU HAVE CALLED BEFORE, CALL AGAIN. You can say this real fast: Please support Board Item No. 30 to ban the illegal Navy's Blue Death flights over heavily populated San Francisco, wasting tax dollars and oil, making terrible noise, all to glorify war as this is a military recruiting show, along with Fleet Week, during Columbus Genocide week. The regular voters, those over age 40 and all educated people under age 40, overwhelmingly support this resolution, in every district of San Francisco.

The Democratic Party of San Francisco has gone on record, through its illegal "mayor" Gavin Newsom, nephew of Rep. Nancy Pelosi, in support of the Navy Blue Death's illegal terrorism strafing of San Francisco. See his viciously reactionary resolution of August 13, 2007 at:
http://www.sfgov.org/site/mayor_page.asp?id=65824

If you want a decent alternative to warmongering Newsom on this November's ballot, you might try Dr. Ahimsa Sumchai. See her website at:
http://www.ahimsa4mayor.com/
Also, consider voting yes on B,E and K and No on all the rest. Please do make an effort to vote.

Below is first the text and then the list of Supervisors and their phone numbers and Emails. The Board is also listed in the blue-striped white pages of your San Francisco phone book.

The resolution is above and at:
http://www.blueangels.org/SF.htm
and is below:
Resolution seeking a permanent halt to the annual
Blue Angels air show over the City of San Francisco.

Whereas, Pursuant to Environmental Code Section 101 of the City and County of San Francisco, all officers, boards, commissions and departments shall implement the Precautionary Principle in conducting the City and County affairs; and

WHEREAS, the Precautionary Principle requires public servants to take anticipatory action to prevent harm and through exploration and careful analysis select courses of action that present the least threat to all; and,

WHEREAS, The Blue Angels is an elite Navy exhibition squadron that tours the United States to perform air shows, involving dare devil maneuvers and tight flight; and,

WHEREAS, Blue Angels air shows have not occurred without incident or loss of life; and,

WHEREAS, Over the past 60 years, the air show has resulted in 26 fatalities, most recently on April 21, 2007 Beaufort County, South Carolina, when Blue Angel pilot Lt. Cmdr. Kevin J. Davis, crashed with his plane into several neighborhood homes, killing himself and injuring eight people on the ground; and,

WHEREAS, Each October, the Blue Angels performs an air show over the City of San Francisco as part of the Fleet Week; and,

WHEREAS, Based on the recent history and the style of their performance in which the slightest error by a pilot or a mechanical malfunction has been known to have disastrous effects, the Blue Angels air show poses an unwarranted risk to life and property in the densely-populated, urban environment of San Francisco; and,

WHEREAS, The Blue Angel F/A-18 Hornet jets make a considerable amount of noise pollution with volume rising to levels that exceed legal limits for the civilian community; and,

WHEREAS, When the aircraft fly their simulated strafing runs over the concrete and glass canyons of San Francisco’s high-rise buildings, the volume is magnified to ear splitting and nerve shattering levels; and,

WHEREAS, San Francisco is a Sanctuary City for many immigrants from war torn countries and home to thousands of veterans of war who have experienced air bombardment and are at risk of being traumatized when the Blue Angels perform; and,

WHEREAS, The jets also terrorize small children, seniors, pets and local wildlife; and,

WHEREAS, The City and County of San Francisco has taken steps to contribute to the effort to stem global climate change and to avert the catastrophic consequences of air pollution, nevertheless, the Blue Angels spew tons of toxic exhaust during their flyovers; and,

WHEREAS, This is a time of under-supplies of crude oil and its byproducts, the F/A-18 Hornet wastes an inordinate amount of jet fuel; and,

WHEREAS, The Federal deficit and national debt have risen to levels never before imagined, and the people of San Francisco have suffered from Federal cuts to vital programs; and,

WHEREAS, The City pays for additional support from the police and fire departments while waiving the normal $25,000 fee to the military; now, therefore, be it

RESOLved, That the Board of Supervisors of the City and County of San Francisco support the permanent halt to flyovers by the Blue Angels; and, be it

FURTHER RESOLVED, That the Board of Supervisors call on Senator Barbara Boxer, Senator Dianne Feinstein, Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Congressman Tom Lantos to use all resources at their disposal to bring a permanent halt to unnecessary flyovers by military aircraft.
